Unleashing the Real Strength of Woman of Haryana

In Haryana, there are only 830 girls against every 1000 boys. Stop for a moment and think? Why this ratio is dwindling from the normal. Due to the societal stigma and orthodox values, various illegal practices are adopted, to eliminate the girl child from the society even before she is born. The practices of gender biased sex selection are the root cause for discrimination and violence against girls.

The adverse effect of this discrimination is so strong that the girls, who are fortunate to receive this gift of life, are still not respected and are kept devoid of the basic right to education, career and self awareness.

So as to explore and experience the real image of female in Haryana, we organised a workshop at Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya in district Sonepat, the only and the largest female university in Northern India. Nearly 100 + female participants both from under graduate and post graduate levels were made to attend this 5 days residential workshop on Women Leadership for Nation Building.

The workshop started with an inaugural ceremony in the benign presence of, The Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General (Economic and Social Development), Mr Deodat Maharaj. He addreesed the inaugural ceremony with the most meaningful opening note that “Real women don’t have flushes, they have power surges”. Deodar Maharaj talked about the rights of women’s and then he shared his experience about the women’s exposure and status not only in India only but in foreign countries as well.

Our main motive was to make these female participants aware of the real strength of a woman and to boost up their confidence and morale. We further strengthened upon their inbuilt leadership skills through capacity building and by providing them ample opportunities for systematic learning. Students were also provided many opportunities to explore their real potential and make them aware about women rights, so as to enable then to take a stand for their decisions.

Students were actively involved in various Team Building Activities so as to help them overcome inhibition build up their confidence and develop trust in each other. Sessions were made entertaining through music, dance, role play, games and creativity involving maximum participation. As a result of which soon most of the participants started expressing themselves to the fullest and became friendly with each other and with the facilitators too.

As a part of the residential workshop, students were taken for Group Outing and further inspired with Various Motivational Movies and were also made to organise and participate in a Cultural Event.

Building upon their inner strength and making them more independent so as to help them stand strong against problem situations or tough times, a special awareness session involving various strategies of self defence was also conducted.

The impact of this 5 days workshop was felt and realised so strongly that the students became much more self aware, confident and realized the need for the change.

The final outcome could be witnessed by the self commitment of the participants to be the change, bring about the change and eventually lead the change.

Importance of Gender Sensitization

The Transformers Value Creators

Importance of Gender Sensitization

Gender Sensitization is one basic requirement for the normal development of an individual. Without being sensitive to the needs of a particular gender, an individual may refrain from understanding the opposite gender and in some acute cases even him or herself. The need for this sensitivity has been felt and realised through times immemorial and in almost all kinds of human existence, across the globe.

But somehow in the recent times, a much stronger need is felt and realized to talk and discuss about this sensitive topic both on a Personal and Professional front.

Particularly in a country like India, with the vast diversity existing in terms of its customs, traditions, rituals, social values, family beliefs and individual perception, the need for a More Systematic, Well Planned and More Professional Approach is desired to inculcate this sensitivity and primarily highlight the contribution of both the genders in creation and development of a well balanced society.

To overcome the various disparities existing in lieu of gender equality the following aspects have to be developed:
1.     Individuals need to be more open-minded, rational and unbiased in their thoughts and actions.
2.     There is an urgent need to shatter the load of our Orthodox Beliefs and Biased  Values to accentuate the Progressive Existence of both the genders.
3.  Better reconciliation of work and private life for both women and men is essential to gender equality.

4.     There is a need to provide steps to safeguard women's safety and for men to be assured that such measures are not an indication of discrimination against the male population.
5.     Training and awareness-raising in educational set- up, at workplace and in society can eliminate gender-based prejudice and thereby change stereotyped working cultures as regards to the roles and abilities of women and men, including attitude towards women in leadership positions.

6.      Better knowledge and understanding of gender issues at all levels of society, including communication activities, role plays, dramas, documentaries, various other audio visual aids will raise awareness among both stakeholders and the general public.
7.     Both the genders need to take stand at their own level, to support and promote the upliftment and wellness of their own and the opposite gender, so as to overcome any sort of differentiation or harassment.

Surely both the Genders are a Creation of Nature and equally essential for the Sustainable Development of any Society. Any sort of gap or inequality w.r.t. the survival rate, individual count, literacy, health, safety, respect and freedom will damage the sanctity and the authentication of human existence.

Based upon all the above mentioned facts a continual effort is being put in this direction of creating a more sensitive, vigilant and respectful society, by “The Transformers Value Creators”, the No. 1 Life Skills Training Organisation (in the Tricity of Chandigarh, Panchkula & Mohali), working at both Organisational & Institutional Level across PAN India & having trained and counseled 20000+ individuals from Toddlers to Professionals.

To practically achieve this mission of imparting maximum awareness, various Participative and Interactive Sessions on ‘Gender Sensitization’have been facilitated by the team ‘The Transformers’ for some of the most Vibrant and Dynamic Professionals from different parts of the country and at various locations across Pan India.

To make these kind of sessions all the more effective and to justify their importance, the participants were involved in various mimes, followed by discussion on various facts and myths related to various Gender Issues.

The topic is further authenticated through the use of specific and most relevant audio visual aids. All the Innovation used in presenting and narrating this sensitive topic actually proves to be an Eye-opener. In totality it is an Enjoyable & Practical Learning Experience for all the Elite Participants.

Need for Transformation in our School Education

Need for Transformation in our School Education

In the 21st Century how can we be so sure that our traditional school education is enough for our children to prepare them for the future competitive world. With the advent of new technology, we see a growing need to pace ourselves much faster towards our goals.
10 years ago, we were not so much into networking and social connectivity through different sources of social media sites like Whats-app, Facebook, Hike, Twitter. Accordingly in this world of Name, Fame & Image our children need to be more outgoing with strong set of Personal & Moral Values. Today information is available in abundance but what needs to be rectified is to apply appropriate filters to that unguided and untamed information.

In such an open and much demanding world of today, it is inappropriate if we say that schools can completely groom our children and make up for what we get through learning something extra. Learning Extra means developing our Children beyond having a Good Academic Grades and a Competent Lifestyle, but rather lead a more Confident & Self Regulated Life through Value Education and Life Skills. Values and Life Skills adopted in these formative years of School Life will surely help to develop much more Emotionally Sound & Vigilant Individuals who would further lay down the foundation of a more Progressive & Ethical Society.

Till date we are only working on the headware of our Children but now is the time to actually work on headware and heartware together. By adopting new soft ways of teaching inclusive of joy of learning, rhythm of thoughts and  we need to do strengthen the Tender Spirits of Our Children, who would not only Be the Change but would also be the Change.

Need is for a Dynamic Educational set up to adapt as per the fast changing needs of today, so as to guide, influence and advocate our Children through conflicting situations and copying with pressures of life.

With Pro-active planning, designing and execution of customized programs as per the individual needs felt and realized we need to not only tame their behaviour but develop attitude towards self commitment and  promote maximum Life Long learning through reflection, research and consistent evaluation.

Conducted At: Govt Degree College Baramulla Jammu And Kashmir.
Conducted Under: (The CEO of the Organisation ‘The Transformers’)
                                       Mrs. MANJULA Thakur

It was a workshop on youth reshaping leadership skills development with an emphasis on the needs of the youth and the subsequent areas to be developed. To be successful all youth will require to demonstrate leadership skills which can be deployed by developing on one’s confidence and make the youth to stand for their rights and simultaneously take up the responsibility of fulfilling their duties.

Learning’s
1.      The positive bangle I felt after the workshop was the unique potential which lies within me, which helped me strengthen my inner soul and add to my physical strength and mental ability.
2.      I was always a good speaker but to listen is to gain more, sit made me realize that the listening is much more effective than to speak.
3.      To be a problem solver, is to handle all sort of situations without being in dilemma. To take a stand even in difficult situations and to be an effective decision maker, that is what I learned from the workshop.

 4.   I never make perceptions regarding any person based upon their gender but this workshop made my vision more strong about the gender sensitization and particularly develop respect for the opposite gender.
5.      I am very much close to my parents as I do share everything with them respectfully, but the generation gap is still bothering me to get their views into my mind and make them understand my plans but after attending this workshop I have a much more clarity about the thought process of my elders and how to convey my ideas to them.
6.      Talking about getting being emotionally strong, this workshop has made me more intelligent to understand my own emotions and as well as those of others.

I’m not able to distinguish between my dreams, desires, aspirations and goals in life.

8.      Last but not the least, copying with pressure in life was my favorite as to gather and handle the      pressures in life is the ultimate winning feeling for being a successful seal.
9.      This workshop has highly motivated the youth to let them know, when and how to influence and    inspire to make high performing teams.

·        Remarks’ By Others

Faheem Shah: What actually I learnt from this workshop is that we do have our own goals in our life and we do remain all geared to achieve them but we can’t remain oblivious to the other things surrounding us. We are set to attain our shots in life but we should avail all the opportunities that come in our way..... Don’t lose any chance, avail it with both of your hands J

Iqra Nazir:  This workshop was like a vaccination for my life as I was in that state of my life in which neither I prefer to smile nor to be sad but thanks to this workshop, I got my life back on track and now will never loose hope whatever the situation be.

Iram Khan: I was very lean regarding the confidence or to be strong, but after this leadership trait, I feel like I am more confident and I’m very hard to crush. I am very thankful to all who provided me with this opportunity to attend this workshop.

Aabid Salaam:  I just learned about professional values regarding the formal communication and exploring self motivation. Thus to reach to your determined path one must have a strong goal in mind.

Conclusion

Thus the ultimate critical and creative thinking was to establish strong connections into the minds of youth. Thus it was an inspirational vibe which must be transferred in today’s youth to make them better in future and our new generation will follow the hierarchy.

The ultimate outcome of this workshop was high levels of positivity with strongly felt realization for the need for change and eventually change was witnessed in the Hearts & Minds of the Majority of the Participants.
